1.Can PPR plumbing pipe used in hot water systems?

It can be used but it should be determined by life table at which temperature and pressure to use. It is 50 year warranty only for 20 °C under 25 bar pressure. How long is its life and under which temperature and pressure to use is identified via table of temperature-life-pressure.

2. What do PPR Type 1, Type 2, Type 3 mean? What are the differences between them?

They become more resistant with development of plastic pipes. Structure of Polyproyplene first manufactured consisted of polyproyplene molecules. This was called as Type 1 Polyplropylene Homopolymer. Then molecules of ethylene-propylene joined the propylene molecules in mixed sequences. This was called as Type 2 Polypropylene Block Copolymer. Finally the product which are arranged in regular sequence between polypropylene molecules of ethylene molecules and that is called as Type 3.

Type 2 and Type 3 is used due to features they widely offer today. Type 2 can be only used in cold water lines and not resistant to hot fluid. Because structure of Type 3 shows resistance to cold, it can be used in hot water lines.

3. How do we differentiate between Type 2 and Type 3?

It can not be understood with eyes, tests such as density, pressure. The sole test to understand is DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimeter). Each plastic has different heat amount to release under a certain temperature when its is heated. Graph of increase in heat in this test is used as identity of the plastic.

4. How do we know we did not purchase Type 3 instead f Type 2?

Unless firms have international certificate, it is not easy to understand. DSC test certificate can be demanded according to Lot ID and learned in this way.

5. Can PPR pipes be used in underfloor heating system?

Can be used; however, there are some considerations. Molecular structure of PPR pipes is crystallized under 0 °C. This structure can be compared to the glass. Weakening does not occur in pressure resistance; but if it is exposed to impact under these conditions, cracks occur. It should be considered that ambient temperature is above 0 °C during shipping and installation.
